RECOVERY OF 2 ANTIQUE METAL IDOLS - WORTH ABOUT 10 LAKHS BY IDOL WING CID 

   On the instructions of Thiru I. Raja IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Chennai, special teams have been formed under the guidance of Thiru Sunil Kumar Singh IPS, Inspector General of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Chennai with close supervision of Thiru H.M. Jayaram IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Idol Wing CID, Chennai and Thiru S. Selvaraj, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Idol Wing CID.  The special teams were on the job in various places of Tamil Nadu to nab the persons indulging in thefts and smuggling of idols from one place to another. 

   Special team led by Inspector Thiru. M. Ravi, Head Constable Subburaj and Police Constable Harikrishnan of Idol Wing CID, on a specific tip off, intercepted two persons who found in possession of two white gunny bags in a suspicious manner near the old bus stand, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar district on 08.08.2011.  During their enquiry, it was disclosed that they were 1. Kannadhasan, (25/2011), son of Murugesan and 2. Pandi (43/2011) son of Arumugam of Panikkanendhal Village, Manamadurai Taluk, Sivagangai district and they were found in possession of two metal idols viz. 1. Subramaniyar metal idol - 2 feet height and 2. Palani Aandavar metal idol - 1 feet height.  

   On interrogation, the suspected persons have confessed that these idols are stolen from one Annadhana Pillayar Temple at Manamadurai on 28.09.2009 and the idols are antique in nature.  Hence, both the persons were arrested and the idols were recovered from them.
